FAULTY APPLIANCES: Water hoses burst, crack, leak, kink or fail.
PLUMBING: Burst water main line, cracked pipes, connections aren’t tight, excessive pressure, corroded ageing pipes.
TOILET: Water supply line breaks, clogged and overflows, cracked tank, leaking seal.
WATER HEATER: Buildup of sediment, corroded tank bottom, anode rods wear out or temperature settings are too high are just a few reasons a water heater may fail.
ACCIDENTS! A common cause of overflowing sinks and tubs are children. Most are fascinated with water and find it hard to resist. They have a limited attention span and often walk away while running water in the tub or sink. They also have a knack of dropping and/or flushing things down the toilet that can create a big problem.
SEWER BACKUP UGH! Blockage of the lateral pipe is the most common cause of sewer back up and is usually the result of solid objects being flushed. Other causes are grease buildup, sanitary products, flushing disposable diapers and other dirt and debris down the toilet. Tree roots are another cause of backups. The roots can penetrate the pipes at the joints and as the tree continues to grow, it causes blockage. Over time is can crack or break the pipe.
